Self-Advocacy and Career Awareness

This group will focus on students of transition age (14-18) and explore individual student’s strengths, explore professional opportunities, and develop essential self-advocacy tools to reach those goals.  A dynamic and interactive program, by the end of this group students will have articulated their personal strengths and interests and those links to the professional world.  In addition, students will develop self-advocacy “scripts” that the will develop and practice so that they can use them in their communities.  Students will be provided with a “next steps” in their transition process. 

Student Profile:14-18-year-old students.  Ability to communicate verbally, but may have cognitive or language challenges.  Ability to work in a group environment.

Length: 12 weeks
Parent Group: None. Attend end of class presentation
