Ivymount School and Programs established outreach services in 2004 in order to make Ivymount's model curriculum and exceptional resources available to the greater community. Starting in 2012, best-practice social skills programs, including Unstuck and On Target, and weekend and after-school recreational and educational camps, clubs and classes have opened Ivymount's doors to thousands of area families.
An enriching environment at school is very important for all students on the autism spectrum. However, a student's experience in the classroom is not fully representative of their entire day. Outreach programs give students and their families an opportunity to bridge the gap between the classroom and home.
Ivymount Outreach Programs are designed to cultivate well-being within both students and their families. By creating programming that targets skill acquisition in areas such as self-awareness and expression, executive functioning, autonomy, emotional regulation, social relationships and community involvement, we help students build interpersonal resources like happiness, social connectedness and community engagement.
All Ivymount Outreach programs and services are provided by Ivymount trained professionals and therapists who are recognized among the best trained special educators in the Washington, DC area.
